Chamber music pg 7 (cont.)
Musicians are from the SE Louisiana and SW Mississippi area. Talented people willing to travel to the area for rehearsals and concerts for work in the New Orleans metro area are welcome too. Music includes early music through current music, with most being from 1700-1970. Current music will come from composers in house, to reduce costs. This enables us, to have monies not leaving the group. Ensemble work includes duos, trios, quartets, etc... all the way up to ensembles of 16 or more, such as chamber orchestra lit, serenades. and chamber vocal ensembles. We will play art gallery openings, small churches hosting concerts, weddings, funerals, and will be recording podcasts as well as sending recordings to recording companies like Naxos, who always look for new groups recording more obscure or brand new pieces not in the catalogues. Musicians are not required to pay fees for working with the group, and concert fees will go directly to performers with nothing going to the org at this time. Pay is for play, not for admins/clerical work. This could change slightly as we change, but concept is for people performing to get the monies collected, and not dividing money for non-performance. Money goes directly to the musicians who ARE the product.
Rehearsal & performance times are flexible as only people for the concerts need to be there for that piece or pieces. (3 people's schedule, not 90 people). Pay will be divided, and each person the concert gets their percentage of the fees acquired. Rehearsals start by January 23, 2011, but feel free to contact after that - there are many rotations for jobs on each instrument & voice type.
